Reading

Generally, everything on the home page appears chronologically when posted.  On all other pages, articles will be arranged thematically.

Thus, to read articles as chronologically posted on every subject — that’s what the home page is for.  Otherwise, if your interests are more particular, search out the page or sub-page(s) most nearly corresponding your interests.

As time goes on and more contributors arrive on-line, the number and variety of themed pages will increase dramatically.

Commenting

Whenever looking to the bottom of most every article, you will either find a comment box or note an “x Comments and y Reactions” link — or a smaller “x comments link.  Clicking either these will get you to the comments page.

Sometimes, comments remain specific to the sub-pages where posted.  For instance, if you would like to comment how “Navigation & Commenting” should be improved, you can do so below on this sub-page.  And your comments below would remain specific to this sub-page — somewhat separate from the more general comment system pool.  Similarly, there are some other sub-pages provisioned so that commenting remains specific to them.

In all commenting events, you will have the option whether to comment anonymously.  You will also have the option whether to comment as a “guest” or logged in as a registered user.  You do not need to register or log in to comment.  And note that if and when you do wish to register and log in — there are a few advantages to doing so — you can still comment anonymously unless you register with your real name.

The links to log in or register are at the very bottom of the site.  If you happen to be at the home page — that’s a lo-o-ong way down:

All the way down-bottom

What are the advantages of registering?  Well, you could submit a post.  Ask your own column.  Even have your own page under Clashing Authors.

Please use some discretion even if you’d rather remain anonymous.  Whether you’re commenting as a pro-democracy activist in Iran — or Syria! — or as a Democrat in the United States .  Islamist or Zionist.  Fascist or communist.  But make clear from the start.  Here @ The U C C anonymity is no license for intellectual irresponsibility.  To the contrary.   Anonymity can blunt ad hominem attack — whether emotional or physical.  Anonymity can sharpen focus on issues.

Unfortunately, anonymity can also provides cover, shelter and sustenance for the loudest, most obnoxious and cowardly trolls.

This forum is designed to remain open — and to sometimes get extremely heated.  In no way does that mean expressing hatred and threatening violence can be condoned.  So, again — use your discretion.  Feel free to ridicule absurd arguments.  Do not stoop to ridiculing people personally.  Because if you persist expressing hatred, threatening violence or ridiculing others personally then your IP address will get banned.

Respect both yourself and each other.  Because if you can confront the worst issues only through meaning, reason, discourse, intellectual ridicule and humour instead of hatred and violence?  Then you are more than welcome here @ The U C C.  Much more than welcome.  You are needed.

But Wait.. There’s More — Free @ The U C C

Update11 Navigation & Commenting

The Ultimate Culture Clash totally had to switch web hosts.  Just because we kept getting I-framed at the extra-large hosting company we were with.  Fortunately, we found a host that actually implemented the entire move for us.  Better yet?  At our new host –  The U C C  loads very much faster.  Wow.  Talk about no pain – all gain.  Thank you, FusedNetwork.

And now there’s more in it for you – free @ The U C C.  Way more.

For one thing you can register to get your own (sub)page.  That’s right.  Your alias can appear under Clashing Authors.  Also?  Whenever there’s a good-quality post at your own page — we re-post it on the front page.  For real.  Your posts can feature as our articles.  And when your articles are featured?  Then you can broadcast your articles everywhere via the OnlyWire button.

Would you like to find out more — or request to register?  Contact us.

Rather not register?  No problem.  You can do all that even without registering.  Simply by creating a terrific FORUM post.  Then contact us to check your post out.  Then, when you receive our notice and see your post featured as a front page article – go setup your free OnlyWire account.  After your OnlyWire account is set up, come back and press that “Bookmark & Share” button under your article.  That’s all there is to it.  Auto-syndicate your article “to Millions of Readers with One Button” – so everyone can see your article featured @ The U C C.

Note, however: Re-posting your submission as a front page article may require format, appearance and possible grammar editing. Don’t worry. Even when we must edit inconsistent form — we’ll never censor or edit substance.  So long you agree and understand responsibility for what you write is all yours.

Finally, we’ve been asked if there can be compensation for regular contributing.  Well – look.  The Ultimate Culture Clash was never started to make money.  It’s not about making money.  It’s about saving the world by confronting the most burning issues.  Your ideas, ideals and ideologies.  That said – we are not opposed to making money in a good cause.

If there are regular contributors bringing increasing focus & attention to The U C C.  If there’s financial profit to be made from increasing popularity.  Then yes.  Absolutely.  We absolutely would share the benefits of increasing attention with those contributing to the attention.  But.  Let’s not count on chickens before there’s eggs.  And.  While not opposed to making money in a good cause – let’s never allow making money to distract us from good causes.  From what The Ultimate Culture Clash is about in the first place.
